PRESIDENT Zelensky has slammed Putin’s decision to implement a so-called Christmas ceasefire, claiming peace can only come on when Russian soldiers leave Ukraine.
In his nightly address, Zelensky said: “They now want to use Christmas as a cover, albeit briefly, to stop the advances of our boys in Donbas and bring equipment, ammunitions and mobilised troops closer to our positions.
“Those who continued the terror against our country and sent their people to be slaughtered definitely do not value life and even more so do not seek peace,” he added.
This comes as Putin’s forces are claimed to have been using “dead bodies as shields” on battlefields according to Ukraine’s Major General.
Major General, Kyrylo Budanov told ABC News: “There are hundreds of dead bodies just rotting away in the open field, in places they are piled on top of other bodies like makeshift walls, when Russian troops attack on that field they use those bodies for cover, like a shield.”
