One of Victoria’s most prestigious golf clubs is at the centre of a membership debate involving former premier Daniel Andrews.
Portsea Golf Club says if membership requirements are met, anyone is welcome, but some members have publicly raised concerns about playing with the former head of state.
News Corp papers reported that an associate to Mr Andrews expressed interest in him joining the Portsea Golf Club.
In a letter to members, Club President Phil Cramer says the Portsea Golf Club hasn’t received a formal application Mr Andrews.
Mr Cramer said if and when one is made, it will be reviewed according to the Club’s constitution – but some members say if the former premier is in, they’re out.
